GUALDO TADINO (PG) – In an era defined by the climate crisis and the rapid loss of agricultural land, a tangible signal of hope and resilience is emerging from Gualdo Tadino. On Thursday, March 5th, at 10:00 AM, the Caprara district will host a significant reforestation project led by local youth and dedicated to the preservation of the land.
The project is promoted and funded by Our Land Holding Ltd, the new owners of the site, and features the active participation of year 11 students (4^ classe) from the “Health and Social Care” program at the IIS “R. Casimiri” high school. Under the guidance of Professor Pamela Pennacchioli and with the full support of Headmaster Professor Renzo Menichetti, students will plant young linden and walnut trees, creating a new “green lung” designed to restore biodiversity and natural beauty to the Umbrian landscape.
A Partnership Between Ethics and Territory
The initiative is officially sponsored by the Municipality of Gualdo Tadino, thanks to the commitment of Vice Mayor Paola Gramaccia. Her advocacy within the City Council has been instrumental in recognizing the project’s profound social and environmental value.
Our Land Holding, a UK-based startup backed by over 100 shareholders, has chosen Umbria as the foundation for a new agricultural model built on three pillars: ethics, equity, and responsibility. The company takes a firm stand against speculative land use and the conversion of fertile soil into industrial-scale solar or wind farms, practices that threaten to scar the “Green Heart of Italy” and undermine the region’s touristic appeal.
The Company’s Vision
“We cannot afford to divert land away from agriculture at a historical moment when food security is a global priority,” stated the shareholders of Our Land Holding. “With UN data showing 384 million people suffering from hunger and millions of Italians facing food poverty, our mission is to protect the natural vocation of the land. We are committed to promoting organic, non-GMO farming that respects future generations.”
The event on March 5th is more than just a planting ceremony; it is an educational milestone. By involving “Casimiri” students, the project entrusts the responsibility of landscape heritage to the next generation, transforming them from observers into active stewards of their own territory.
